Our U16s played out a very entertaining game at home to Longstone on Sunday. The game was played over 3 x 20 minute periods. The Fin edged the first period by the minimum 1-05 to 0-07. In the second period the ‘Stone posted 2-04 to the Fin’s 1-05 to lead by one point overall. In the final period Longstone were that wee bit more clinical to tally 1-05 to the Fin response of 1-01. The Fin saw two efforts cannon off the crossbar as well in what was a very evenly balanced game throughout. Final score Longstone 3-16 Aughlisnafin 3-11. Thanks to Longstone for travelling to us for the game. It is hoped we will have five absentees for this game back in for the first league game of the season away to Bryansford this Thursday. The squad has been bolstered by four St John’s players on a season long lease to play football in their own grade and so welcome to Damian, Oran, Ryan and Peter. All four have impressed in both challenge games to date. Training every Tuesday at 6.30 pm at Pairc Baile Anna.
