*A very quiet week in the club which gave all our volunteers a chance to recharge the batteries after the success of our Mud Run fundraiser. Also an opportunity to enjoy the Féile Péil na nÓg which came to Down and a massive congratulations to all the host clubs that took part and indeed the county organising committee. It epitomised all that is good about our national game and about the GAA community as a whole.
*Only one game was played last week when our U14’s played host to St Pauls from Holywood who have been in high scoring form of late. The Fin were without some key players but a brilliant team effort saw everyone else step up to the plate to record and fine win. Fin net minder Odhran Maguire was in excellent form and saved a late penalty. Stand in captain Conor Walsh bossed the midfield sector scoring 0-5 while full forward Ethan Murray matched that tally. U12 players Marty og Flanagan (0-2) and Conor O’Hare (1-1) also on target. This was a test of the team’s resolve with players injured, away at the Gaeltacht and on holidays and they passed with flying colours. Final score Aughlisnafin 1-13 St Paul’s 0-8. There will now be a break for the holiday period with the next game away to Bright on Monday 23rd July.
